Heavy rain and a waterlogged ground can only mean one thing – it must be time for a club training night!

For the second time this year TVFC held a club training night with the the spectre of a big rain storm ready to drench participants. Despite the rain and cold, there was a good turn out with representation from Under 7 MiniRoos right through to Seniors.

During the training sessions, the playing group rotated through a number of drills including shooting practice, throw ins and other fundamentals, one-on-one techniques and of course, everyone’s favourite Foot-Golf! Each drill was run by a senior player – thanks to John, Mark, Matt, Ash, Casey, Alec, Campbell and Lachie.

The highlight of the night for many would have been the ‘Seniors vs Juniors’ match that was played at end of the session. The rules stipulated seniors could only have 2 touches and could not run. Seeing both Alec’s and Rudy’s fast ‘walk’ put a smile on everyone’s face. The end result was a 2-1 victory to the Seniors – though I’m sure many Juniors will protest given the senior’s liberal ‘interpretation’ of the running and 2 touch rules.

After the session a ‘Chicken and Chips’ fundraiser dinner was held. This dinner was a great success raising over $300 for the club. A special thank you to Shelley, Kylie, Peta, Emma and Kara, who did a marvellous job in preparing and serving the meals.

Overall the night was great success and hopefully the ‘Club Training Night’ will become a staple in TVFC culture…let’s just hope next year we can pick a night when it doesn’t rain!
