On Thursday 26th July TVFC held a Movie Night for the Miniroos and Junior teams at our clubrooms.  The night began with all teams having their photos taken by a professional photographer.  They then proceeded to go out onto the pitch and play a game with some of the TVFC senior players who kindly gave up their time to come down and play with the kids.  This is a great initiative in order to get the senior and junior groups crossing over and becoming a more inclusive club at all age levels.  The kids got a kick out of playing with the big boys and were very happy to get the ball past them and score goals!

Once the games had finished the teams then proceeded to have a meal consisting of nuggets, chips and a drink.  Once the kids were settled in and were eating we started the movie which was displayed on the wall via a projector.  Choosing a movie for a varied age group was a challenge however we settled on Peter Rabbit and all of the kids sat quietly throughout the movie either on chairs or on the floor with their bean bags, pillows and blankets eating popcorn and Twisties after their meals.  Some of the parents also stayed and shared some pizzas delivered by one of our club sponsors Zingarelli’s.

Overall the night was a great success and it was great to see the kids and parents attending this event.  It is my aim as Miniroos Coordinator to organise more of these events in the future in order to give something back to the kids and their parents for being part of and supporting our great club.  I believe initiatives like this will also help to retain and even attract more players in the future.  The club and the committee strive to create a family friendly inclusive environment to all of our players and members where we aim to create an environment that attracts people to come and be involved in our club therefore events like this I believe is a good stepping stone towards this goal.

I would like to give a special thanks to committee members Mick, Lachie, Katrina and Raelene and also the U10s Assistant Coach Stacey for giving up their time to help me do various jobs throughout the evening such as cleaning the clubrooms, setting up, cooking and serving the meals on the night and thankyou tor those that helped clean up at the end of the night.  I’d also like to thank the senior men that came down early to play a game with the kids before they had to train and also to Mick for organising them to come along.  Without the help of these volunteers the night would night have ran as smoothly as it did so I very much appreciate the support.
