The under 10’s came up against Fortuna having played out a very even 2-2 draw with them  a few weeks ago. When we arrived the sun was shining and the main pitch at Traralgon looked in great condition so everything was set for a good day of football. However, things turned quickly as the sun disappeared, it got very cold and we discovered that we were the unlucky ones to be playing on the “paddock” over the back, well someone had too!

As the last of the cows were moved off the pitch the Traf kids went on and began the first half well. Wesley was playing his first game for the Victory and fitted in well right from the start. Jaxon once again was keen to have a go in goal and looks better each time he sticks the gloves on. Jye and Jai continue to be solid at the back. The first half was even as the sides went to the break 2-2.

The instruction at half time was to choose to run with the ball when there was space in front of them and if not then to get their head up and look for a teammate. As the second half started it was good to see the Traf kids attempting to follow instructions. We managed to score one more in the second half and so did Fortuna which meant the result finished 3-3, another draw for 2 very evenly matched teams.

Award winners for the day were Jye L for his solid defending and Jett for his tireless work up front. Well done guys and well played team.

Special mentioned to former Traf Victory and current Gippsland FC player Alyssa Giles who came across to Traralgon to referee even though her sister was not playing with the 10s as she was with the under 12’s only to discover that Traralgon had organised their own junior players to officiate. Your effort was much appreciate Alyssa.
