The under 10’s travelled to Newborough Yallourn’s pitch to play against Traralgon City. Due to a few illness’s within the team Harvey and Onyx stepped up from the under 8’s to fill in and both boys handled themselves well against the bigger kids. Trafalgar scored a few early goals before Traralgon fought back with a few of their own. The big focus for the team in the early weeks has been keeping in positions and not following the ball all the time. With most of the team having only just transitioned to under 10s this year this will take some time however each week we are getting better at this.
Sully and Jett threatened in attack while in defence Mackenzie, Ash and Kaiden prevented most of Traralgon’s attacks. Traf managed to go into the break a few goals up. Jai playing only his second game ever showed huge improvement with plenty of chasing, tackling and most importantly some real thought about what he wanted to do with the ball once he had it.
The second half was a little more open and Mitch and Ryan used the space well and combined well for some very well worked team goals. Traf eventually ran out 8-5 winners in what was a good team performance.
The Jump and Climb award went to Jai, with Mitch and Ryan taking the BK’s awards.
