The under 10’s travelled to Tyers for the 2nd time in three weeks and the weather was cold, wet a little muddy but great for a game of football. The Tyers boys were clearly bigger in size than our team though considering all of our boys except 2 are in their first year of under 10s its probably not too much of a surprise.

Tyers started with the wind at their back and caught us cold by scoring a few from distance despite Wesley’s great effort in goals. Within the first 10 minutes we were 4-0 down in what looked like it was going to be a long day. However, Traf started to go forward with Ryan D, Sully and Jett linking up well and starting to cause some trouble for Tyers. Ryan D got Traf on the scoreboard then scrambled home a second after Mitch’s shot came back of the cross bar. Tyers scored another to go in at the break 5v2 up.

As the boys enjoyed an orange I gave them 2 or 3 simple instructions hoping they may help in the second half however when I finished it off by asking whether they thought we could get back into the game and win I was met with a few loud calls of “No” from the comedian’s in the team I started to doubt whether my instructions would work.

However, all credit to the boys as they went out and out played the Tyers team for much of the second half. Mitch scored from long range early on to make it 5v3 however despite playing some good passing football there was no more goals from either side for the rest of the day. Kai kept a clean sheet in goals with the ever improving Jaxon leading an impressive defence with Ash and Wesley. Ryan O was everywhere and Kaden moved forward in the second half and troubled the Tyers defence with his dribbling.

Strangely the person on the horn finished the game 5 minutes early to “get out of the cold” but I’m sure the boys would have happily continued to play and try to get some more goals, after all they couldn’t get any wetter.

Next week we head to Newb-Yallourn to play NY in the final fixture of the season before the final Gala Day.
