All community sport clubs exist upon the hard work of their dedicated volunteers. Trafalgar Victory FC is no different to any other local sports club and has its army of volunteers that make the club tick.
There are so many people that make Trafalgar Victory FC a great family and community club. There are numerous committee members, coaches, team managers, fundraisers, lines people, canteen workers etc. that contribute to the success of our club.
As I drove past the soccer grounds on Saturday morning I couldn’t help but notice the TVFC club president lining both pitches by himself. Despite the fact that Lachlan Wyatt doesn’t even live in Trafalgar he was, without fuss, working hard to ensure that all games this weekend could be played. It is worth mentioning that Lachlan was also representing the club on Thursday evening in the Eastern Melbourne suburbs when he made the most of meeting the Victorian Premier, Mr Daniel Andrews, to present our need for change rooms and showers.
Shirley Guthrie also invested many hours to benefit TVFC this weekend. As the club’s MiniRoos Coordinator, Shirley started her day at Fortuna at 9:00am to support the Under 6 and Under 8 teams, she then coached the Under 10 team. Following the mornings MiniRoos football, Shirley refereed the Under 14 Girls match at Trafalgar, before assisting with the Under 16 Boys team. Sunday morning and Shirley played for the TVFC senior women’s before helping on the gate for the senior men’s team also.
These stories take place every weekend and there are a range of people who go way beyond what is asked of them. To these volunteers we say thank you. If you are a player or parent, please be sure to say thank you to your coaches, team officials and canteen volunteers. Without these volunteers, clubs like ours wouldn’t exist.
