A beautiful sunny morning greeted the Under 13 girls team at home for this weeks game against Traralgon Olympians. Olympians are one of the top teams in the competition and we were eager to see how we compared to them. The game started evenly and both teams created chances early. As the half progressed Olympians were able to exert more pressure on the Trafalgar girls and went into half time with a 3-0 lead. Tia, Nyah and Livvie were all repelling numerous attacks and the team thought they could get back into the game at half time.
The start of the second half saw the girls from Olympians get off to a flyer and score very quickly after the break. The Trafalgar girls battled hard to stay in the contest with Ivy leading the way in the midfield. Chances were still being created at both ends and there was a huge roar when Haylea managed to break through the defence and score for the home team. Paris again showed great foot skills this week and Haylea scored from the edge of the box to make the final score a 2-10 loss for the team. The amount of improvement shown by the whole team is considerable and while the scores don’t show it, the results will start to change if the effort on the weekend is reproduced in each game.
Award winners this week were Mackenzie, Haylea and Ivy.
