“Girls Only” junior football has arrived at Trafalgar Victory FC and is here to stay for season 2015. The very first training session, hosted by team coach Shirley Guthrie, was a hit with the young female participants. Eleven very keen and enthusiastic girls attended the first training session and all were thoroughly engaged in the current FFA modelled training session.
Coach Guthrie was delighted with the attendance and impressed with the energy and enjoyment shown by the girls. Guthrie has invested considerable time and energy into the girls only Under 13 team and deserves every recognition for her efforts. To date she has enrolled in, and undertaken, the first of three FFA Skill Training Certificate sessions to ensure the very best of training programs for the girls under her care. In addition she has in the last week alone personally travelled to; Trafalgar Primary, Trafalgar High, St Joseph’s Primary, St Kieran’s Primary, Willow Grove Primary, Thorpdale Primary and Yarragon Primary to ensure that all girls are aware of the opportunity of playing in a girls only team.
TVFC is hoping to field a full 11 player team in the Gippsland Soccer League’s Girls Only Under 13 competition. Already there are 13 players who have expressed interest in playing. Ideally a squad would consist of approximately 14 – 16 girls, so positions are available yet limited.
Those girls interested in playing are advised that trainings are on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 5:00 – 6:00pm. Those already playing are encouraged to bring a friend along to next weeks training sessions.
