On Sunday the 20th May, Trafalgar hosted Morwell powerhouse Fortuna. It was expected to be a tough 3 games for the three senior grades.

Women’s:
Unfortunately, Trafalgar Women’s couldn’t keep their head above water and sunk to league leaders Fortuna. The women’s played exceptionally well, with Fortuna lucky to score one goal. Trafalgar kept level headed the whole game, providing great plays and attacks but weren’t lucky enough to grab a goal. The end result was 1-0 to Fortuna. This won’t break the Women’s spirit and I’m sure they’ll bounce back next week against East Gippsland.

 Reserves:
The TVFC Reserves Men’s team were handed a football lesson, via an embarrassing 16-2 thumping.  The lads cannot accept such a performance and need to bounce back strongly in next week’s match. Collectively the teams needs to display greater commitment and considerably more determination next week. Accepting such a defeat is simply not good enough.

Seniors:
The Senior Men’s team has historically struggled against Fortuna with several unlucky losses in very close games. Thankfully, this was not the case. The Trafalgar Men showed grit, determination, and dedication. Trafalgar kicked off the game with a goal in the first half with a fantastic goal from Oliver Tait. Great team play that led to Oliver, who brought it down from the air, let it bounce and volleyed it with the outside of his right foot and smashed it into the top of the net.
Unfortunately, Fortuna scored as well, from a bit of sloppy defending, putting it passed Mark Heatherington, who was exceptional all game with brilliant keeping. Dylan Wyatt, Aidan Wyatt, Christos Tigas, Chris Gratton, and Jackson Landy all stood out with brilliant individual performances.
