Harriet Shing MP today visited Trafalgar Victory FC’s venue and took a tour of our facilities. The visit was an opportunity for TVFC to highlight our serious lack of change room facilities and the urgency of the need to address this current situation.
To say that Harriet was “appalled” by the lack of facilities would be an understatement. Ms Shing took numerous pictures and advised the club that she would be sharing them with the Minister for Sport, John Eren MP, the very next day.
Harriet outlined how the recently announced Victorian budget provides $60 million for the Community Sporting Infrastructure Fund and $100 million towards the innovative Community Sports Infrastructure Loans Scheme. Clearly there is state funding available for the TVFC change room and shower facility project, it is simply a matter of local government making this project a priority for funding applications.
Trafalgar Victory FC will keep an open line of communication with Harriet’s Morwell office. The club is optimistic that the meeting will contribute towards positive outcomes and that as a result of the meeting the Sports Minister will at least have a clearer picture (or two) of the current facilities at TVFC.
The club will continue to work with the Baw Shire, Victorian State Government, the Latrobe Valley Authority, the Trafalgar & District Community Bank and the Trafalgar Recreation Precinct tenants to achieve a satisfactory and timely outcome to this urgent need.
