Trafalgar Victory FC celebrated its junior presentation on Saturday the 12th of September on a glorious day, perfect for a kick on the pitch.

Club president Dylan Wyatt welcomed the many parents and players to the presentation and the formal proceedings commence with a season review video featuring all MiniRoos and Junior teams. The video was crafted by Templar Hankinson and consisted of numerous pictures from the 2015 season. Parents and players alike thoroughly enjoyed the video.

The first group of players presented were the TVFC MiniRoos. Each player was introduced, spoken about and presented with a team banner and MiniRoos medallion. It was delightful to see so many of the club’s youngest soccer players all present at the one venue.

The MiniRoos were followed by the two TVFC junior aged teams, the Under 13 Girls team and the Under 14 Boys team. Both teams had a fabulous year with the girls reaching the semi-finals of their competition and the boys the quarter-finals.  This was the very first season that Trafalgar Victory have fielded a “girls only” junior team and the future indeed looks bright for the women’s football at Trafalgar.

The 2015 TVFC junior awards were presented to:

  • Under 13 Girls “Coaches Award” – Haylea Porter
  • Under 13 Girls “Most Improved” – Alyssa Giles
  • Under 13 Girls “Most Consistent” – Maddy Brown
  • Under 13 Girls “Players Player” – Veronica Mykytiuk

  • Under 14 Boys “Best & Fairest” – Logan Winter
  • Under 14 Boys “Best & Fairest Runner Up” – Michael Judd
  • Under 14 Boys “Most Consistent” – Lachlan Burke
  • Under 14 Boys “Players Player” – Stuart Beckley

At the conclusion of the presentations an afternoon tea was shared by all in attendance and preparations undertaken for the annual “Parents V Players” soccer match. The kids took to the pitch with much enthusiasm and considerable excitement. Slowly but surely the parents arrived with their strapping and unmistakable scent of deep heat.

With so many players keen for a kick, it was decided to rotate the MiniRoos and Juniors on the pitch in ten minute intervals, just so the parents faced a fresh and vibrant opposition for the entire match.

It was clear from the kick off that the parents meant business and it wasn’t long before the “oldies” were on the board. Several parents were in fine form and some were indeed approached to play in the TVFC senior teams for next season. Joi Rothmeier stood out with numerous runs along the right wing and Michael Burke also displayed good touch for the duration of the match.

However, it wasn’t long until the kids struck back to level the match. For the next 40 minutes the score increased goal for goal. Then with only minutes remaining the referee called “Next Goal Wins!” and the game was on. As if scripted, it was the junior team that scored the final and decisive goal to take the 2015 title.  A great games had been witnessed by many. The kids left satisfied, whilst many parents left straight home for a good soak in the bath. Well done kids.

The junior presentation day was indeed a great success. The TVFC Committee would like to thank all team coaches and team managers for their support and dedication throughout the season:

  • MiniRoos Under 7s Coach – Templar Hankinson
  • MiniRoos Under 9s Coach – Caycee Tatterson
  • MinRoos Under 11s Coach – Kara Kimberley
  • Under 13 Girls Coach – Shirley Guthrie
  • Under 14 Boys Coach – Mark Judd

The committee would also like to thank the many families that have assisted their teams and chosen Trafalgar Victory FC as their club of choice. As Dylan stated in his speech, without the players there is no club.

Thanks too to the volunteers who made the great day possible. Templar and Shelley for their planning, promotion, purchasing and preparation. Peta for her ordering of the banners and trophies. Kara for her management of the photo orders. Emma for her management of the canteen on the day. To those who I have forgotten, my sincere apologies.

All at TVFC hope the numerous MiniRoos and junior players had a great season. The club strongly encourages all our current players you to play again in 2016. If you have any feedback for the club relating to the MiniRoos or Juniors program, please be sure to contact the club and help us make TVFC the best sporting club in Gippsland.
