2018 Senior Presentation

Trafalgar Victory FC held its senior presentation at the Courthouse in Warragul on Friday the 12th of October.  The evening was an opportunity for the entire senior group to gather to celebrate the season that was and to acknowledge certain individuals for their achievements and contributions for the 2018 season.

The Courthouse, being a major TVFC sponsor, provided an excellent meal and superb service.  There were good numbers in attendance and the formal attire was in considerable contrast to the traditional red and white kit worn by all teams throughout the season.

Both senior coaches in Tony Wyatt (Senior Women’s Coach) and Eamon O’Hare (Senior Men’s Coach) presented inspirational and passion filled speeches to the Trafalgar members.  Their passion for both the game and the club were obvious for all to witness.  All at Trafalgar Victory FC are grateful to have both these men leading our senior teams.

2018 Club Person Award Recipients

The recipients of the Luke Barker Memorial Club Person Award and the Angelo Carpinteri Junior Club Person Award were announced at the recently held Senior Presentation.

Both awards recognise the significant contributions made our dedicated volunteers.  The finalist for the Luke Barker Memorial Club Person Award were; Michael Byrne, Tanya Makins and Katrina Alison. Whilst in the Angelo Carpinteri Junior Club Person Award the finalists were; Chloe Alison and Allyssa Giles.

Michael Byrne was announced the 2018 Senior Club Person of the Year.  Michael has invested considerable time and effort to secure sponsorships, improve facilities, secure grants and coach the Under 6 MiniRoos.  He has a “can do attitude” and is indeed the man to get the job done.  Michael is also a TVFC committee member and a leader within the Men’s Reserves team. Congratulations Michael.

Chloe Alison was announced the 2018 Junior Club Person of the Year, very narrowly beating Allyssa for the title.  Chloe is a younger member of the TVFC Senior Women’s Team and another dedicated volunteer.  Despite playing minimal game time this season, Chloe has spent many hours assisting in the canteen at both junior and senior game days. She works very hard behind the scenes to ensure a smooth game day experience for players both home and away. Congratulations to Chloe.

Whilst Allyssa didn’t win the 2018 TVFC title, her contributions towards MiniRoos Gala days and assistance at numerous soccer clinics was very much appreciated and recognised by all at the club. It was therefore great that Allyssa was recognised by the club sge plays for, Gippsland FC, as their 2018 Club Person of the Year.  Congratulations to Allyssa.

2018 Junior Club Person Nomination – Allyssa Giles

Allyssa Giles has been nominated for the 2018 TVFC Junior Club Person of the Year Award.

Allyssa has made an enormous contribution to the MinirRoos this season . From refereeing almost every weekend, to coming down to training and helping out wherever she can. She was also available for all MiniRoos home games to referee and help setup and pack up.

Allyssa showed great initiative and clubmanship throughout the season and was always asking what she could do to help.  Although Alyssa is not a playing member, she has dedicated her time and effort into the TVFC MiniRoos program this year and is a deserved candidate for Junior Club Person of the Year.”

2018 Junior Club Person Nomination – Chloe Alison

Chloe Alison has been nominated for the 2018 TVFC Junior Club Person of the Year Award.

Chloe has been nomiated for her selfless approach in helping her mum (Katrina) to manage the canteen throughout season 2018.

As an important utility to visitors, the canteen is also a key financial asset to TVFC and one which requires commitment and hard work. Although Chloe missed most of the season through injury, it didn’t impact her commitment to the club and she remained a dedicated volunteer week in, week out. A valued member of the TVFC family, Chloe is a great example of a  junior club member who’s humility, hard work and dedication to her club make her a very worthy nominee.

2018 Senior Club Person Nomination – Katrina Alison

Katrina Alison has been nominated for the 2018 TVFC Senior Club Person of the Year Award.

Katrina has taken on the unenviable, and often unappreciated,  role of Canteen Manager for the 2018 season. She has done an amazing job with updating and managing the canteen this year. Every home game for both juniors and seniors Katrina works in the canteen all day. This means some weekends she spends both Saturday and Sunday serving the club.  She has put in many hours at the club and deserves to be recognised for her hard work.

2018 Senior Club Person Nomination – Michael Byrne

Michael Byrne has been nominated for the 2018 TVFC Senior Club Person of the Year Award.

Mick has done a tremendous amount of work this year at both senior and junior level. He has bought many sponsors to the club, assisted with organising grants for heating for the club rooms, organised signage, designed our honour board and has been involved with a lot of maintenance projects throughout the year. Mick has also organised and facilitated numerous meetings with local government and the Latrobe Valley Authority.

One of the new additions to this year’s calendar was the Sponsors Day.  This day was designed to show our appreciation to our major sponsors.  This concept was designed and directed by Michael and was well received by all major sponsors.

Michael has also contributed a great deal of his time to Miniroos program throughout the season. Not only by coaching, but also by helping with organised events including our home gala days, movie night and mini gala night.

Michael has also made a significant contribution to the senior group including organising the “Big Daddy” award aimed at improving the culture and comradery around the club, doing the gate and canteen roster each week, assisting to organise events among other things.

2018 Senior Club Person Nomination – Tanya Makins

Tanya Makins has been nominated for the 2018 TVFC Senior Club Person of the Year Award.

Tanya has been nominated for outstanding effort and commitment to the TVFC MiniRoos program. Tanya’s capacity to communicate with the parents, to coordinate coaches and players each week was key to the success of the TVFC MiniRoos program in season 2018. She also coached (shared responsibility with Michael Byrne) the under 6 squad, arranged an inter club night, movie night and coaches training.

In addition, her role accessing grants from EA and Loy Yang were significant in heating being added to the clubrooms. Finally her sponsorship application to Warragul Glass was succesful and resulted in additional financial support flowing to the club.

It’s important to recognise Tanya’s resolve in promoting participation, fairness and fun as overarching values and the keys to junior engagement. As a result, it’s widely accepted the MiniRoos thoroughly enjoyed their season, felt welcome and important members of our club. A person who genuinely understands the broad ranging, cultural impact these values deliver.

2018 MiniRoos/Junior Presentation Day

Trafalgar Victory FC’s Miniroos and Junior players attended their Presentation day on Saturday 1st September to cap off a successful 2018 season.  Also in attendance were players families, coaches and TVFC Committee members, with more than 100 guests enjoying a morning which consisted of the presentation of medallions and banners for all U6s, U8s and U10s. Under 12’s received banners, with overall awards presented to the players player. Under 15 girls were also presented with banners.

In a tied result, the Under 12 Players Player award was shared by Zane Saltnes and Logan Fascio. Voted on by their peers, both boys were recognised for their outstanding seasons. Coach Templar Hankinson shared the thoughts of the playing group, saying “the development of both players, their dedication to training and commitment to the team made them deserving joint winners of the award. Well done to both boys, also to their team mates for what has been a season where improvement in several areas was obvious. I’m incredibly proud of the comradery and dedication of the entire group”.

This year TVFC also formally recognised the contribution of their coaches by presenting each coach with an engraved glass acknowledging their outstanding efforts developing the miniroos and junior squads in season 2018.  All teams also presented their coaches with a world cup soccer ball signed by each player as a memento of their commitment and dedication.

Speaking on behalf o the Committee, TVFC President Lachie Wyatt is quoted as saying “our Mini and Junior teams were blessed with committed, experienced and supportive coaches this season. As a result, all teams improved enormously and most importantly, players were able to create strong friendships and have fun playing this great game. We recognise our role in developing the game whilst encouraging our youngest players to have fun every time they take the field, whether it be for training or games. We’re incredibly proud of our culture and people – which in many ways is driven by the coaches. We must also make special mention of our parents who are a wonderfully supportive group of people. Their encouragement of the kids each and every week was inspiring”

Looking ahead to season 2019, Trafalgar Victory FC will hold a registration day, pre-season training , summer fun kick program and will again organise events such as movie nights and mini gala nights with other local clubs. Anyone considering becoming involved in season 2019 is encouraged to contact the club via email or alternatively visit our website for contact details.
